Public authority decisions

The administrative court can determine disputes (a dispute arises when two parties are in disagreement) between individuals and public authorities.

You can appeal to this court against decisions made by, for instance, the Swedish Social Insurance Agency, the Swedish Tax Agency, the Swedish Migration Board or the municipal social services.

Examples of public authority decisions that you can appeal to the administrative court are:

• tax assessment decisions made by the Swedish Tax Agency
• decisions made by The Swedish Social Insurance Agency (for instance the right to sickness benefit or parental benefit)
• decisions made by the municipality on matters concerning assistance under the Social Services Act
• decisions made by The Swedish Migration Board on matters concerning residence permits, Swedish nationality and other similar matters
• decisions concerning compulsory care
